Tango World Cup

August is the month of Tango in Buenos Aires.
Since 2009, the city’s Culture Ministry has hosted the the world’s largest celebration of tango.
What to discover at this year’s festival
- Special music and dance productions by emerging and veteran stars of Argentine tango music and dance, as well as performances by international dancers and dance companies, and a range of concerts which explore different genres and generations of tango.
- Dance classes for all levels, embracing a range of different tango styles, run by celebrated dancers and renowned tango instructors.
- A variety of milongas at the festival’s main venues.
- Shows for children designed to inspire even the youngest of generations.
- Finge activities include book presentations and signings, seminars and conferences.
- The actual competition – competitors perform in one of two categories: “Tango Salón” which embraces the milonga or salon style of dancing, the style owned, practiced and shaped by the collective masses on the floor; and “Tango Escenario” or stage tango, the more theatrical, choreographed form of tango, often with embellishments, acrobatics and solo moves. More than 400 couples from across the world will be taking part.
